Reflecting on an Enlightening CPD Evening

Reflecting on an Enlightening CPD Evening

Last Tuesday, September 16th, Clarity hosted a fantastic Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event at the Kingsknowes Hotel in Galashiels. It was a great evening of learning, networking, and delicious food, attended by 16 Optometry and Ophthalmology Professionals.

A Deep Dive into Glaucoma and Ocular Surface Disease

The evening kicked off with a warm welcome from Hospital Manager Andrew Gunn and an introduction to Clarity, followed by a captivating CPD lecture on “Glaucoma Treatment and Ocular Surface Disease.” The session, expertly led by the renowned Clarity Consultant and glaucoma specialist Dr Mei-Ling Cheng, provided a comprehensive look into these two interconnected topics. Attendees gained 2 interactive CPD points, enhancing their knowledge in clinical practice and communication. The discussion was particularly valuable in highlighting the latest advancements and practical applications for managing these conditions in daily practice.

Reflections on a Successful CPD Session

The feedback from those who attended was overwhelmingly positive. Many found the session “interesting and useful,” with attendees highlighting the benefit of the “one-to-one interactions with speakers.” The lecture’s use of “pictures of anatomy and devices” was a hit, making complex topics easier to grasp. Attendees also valued the practical insights gained, particularly on “different surgical techniques and the protocol for topical treatment.”

Dr Mei-Ling Cheng’s expertise was a major highlight, with attendees noting the value of receiving surgical advice from Mei-Ling herself. The positive experience was shared by all, as every attendee commented that they would attend another Clarity CPD event.

The Perfect Opportunity for Networking

Following the insightful lecture, everyone enjoyed a lovely dinner, providing the perfect opportunity for networking. The informal setting allowed attendees to connect with peers, share experiences, and discuss the lecture’s key takeaways. The event, sponsored by Scope, wrapped up around 9:00 pm, leaving attendees with new knowledge, valuable connections, and a productive end to their day.

We extend a huge thank you to Dr Cheng for her brilliant presentation and to everyone who attended. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
