Dr Ahmad is a highly experienced Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist with over 20 years of expertise in General Medicine and gastroenterology. Currently serving as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and a bowel cancer screener endoscopist within the NHS, Dr Ahmad treats a wide variety of gastrointestinal (GI) and hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) conditions, including common, chronic issues such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). His proficiency extends across advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, holding JAG accreditation for advanced endoscopy. Dr Ahmad is proficient in performing Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound), and ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), alongside treatments such as polypectomies and haemorrhoid banding. His qualifications include an MBBS, MRCP, and FRCP, highlighting his commitment to clinical excellence and professional leadership.
Dr Ahmad completed the highly regarded East Midlands GI training programme and further enhanced his skills by undertaking a one-year advanced endoscopy fellowship at Nottingham University Hospitals. His dedication to learning and sharing knowledge is further evidenced by being awarded a BSG (British Society of Gastroenterology) travel fellowship for training in the USA and Germany. Demonstrating his standing as an expert in healthcare, he has been a faculty member at various international conferences and actively participates in teaching and training the next generation of advanced endoscopists. Dr Ahmad maintains a strong academic record, having published in peer-reviewed journals. His career began with distinction, graduating as the best graduate from Pakistan, where he was awarded the Gold Medal in Medicine and Surgery.
