Dr Usman Mahmood is a highly experienced and accomplished Ophthalmologist with an ophthalmic career of over two decades in the UK. He is presently based in West Scotland, Glasgow and Edinburgh, but his career has seen him work across many areas of the United Kingdom. He provides expert ophthalmic care in all aspects of general ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology understanding the link of the brain with eyes and sight. He provides personalised care that is tailored to the specific requirements of each patient.
Dr Mahmood began his ophthalmic training in the United Kingdom in 2003 after his pre-registration house officer training at Ealing in London. His Senior House Officer training, Registrar training and subsequent Advanced Specialty Training saw him rotate across several hospitals in England, culminating in Cambridge. He then proceeded to advanced fellowship training jobs in University Hospital Leicester, followed by his final Fellowship in his last year of training at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital. He accepted an NHS consultant job in the University Teaching Hospitals Hull from where he resigned after nearly a decade, in 2020. He has since worked in the private sector and also the Golden Jubilee NHS Hospital Glasgow.
