Yaseen Shah is a highly accomplished and dedicated healthcare professional with over two decades of experience in the optical and wider healthcare sectors. His career began in 2002 as an Optical Assistant, a path he embarked on after a chance encounter during a sight test sparked his interest in the field. Yaseen’s passion for patient care, community engagement, and building trusted healthcare partnerships has been a consistent driver throughout his professional life. Known for his proactive, approachable, and relationship-focused approach, he is a familiar and respected figure in the industry. Outside of his professional commitments, Yaseen values quality time with his friends and family, enjoys unwinding at the gym, and finds a creative outlet in his passion for baking.
Yaseen’s journey to CHEC/Clarity was a pivotal moment, born out of a desire to find a new professional challenge that would reignite his passion. After steadily progressing through the leadership ranks in traditional optical practice, he felt ready for a change of direction. CHEC provided the perfect opportunity, allowing him to transition from clinical practice to a role focused on large-scale healthcare partnerships and community delivery. This career shift has not only given him a renewed sense of purpose but has also provided a much-improved work/life balance, contributing to his overall professional and personal fulfilment. The role has also enabled him to reconnect with former colleagues while forging new professional networks.
Community Leadership and Future Vision
As a committed advocate for public health, Yaseen is deeply involved in his local community. He serves as the Education Officer for Pennine Lancashire LOC, where he plays a key role in supporting local optometrists through continuous professional development (CPD), governance, and pathway development. His work extends to actively engaging with LOCSU, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), and NHS Trusts to ensure healthcare services are aligned with local health priorities. He is also a proactive organiser of CPD events, often collaborating with local sports and community trusts to raise awareness of crucial eye health issues.
Looking to the future, Yaseen is focused on building stronger connections across the healthcare landscape, including with ICBs, Trusts, LOCs, and community partners. He is particularly enthusiastic about expanding into new areas within the region, forging new relationships, and driving new service opportunities. He is dedicated to supporting optometrists and GPs across the region and is excited to continue developing partnerships that enhance access, choice, and outcomes for patients. Yaseen’s unique blend of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and community passion makes him a valuable asset in improving healthcare delivery and reducing health inequalities.
