Dr Laura Hughes is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon with extensive subspecialist experience. She provides reconstructive eyelid surgery and lesion removal, tailoring all treatments to the individual to ensure optimal functional outcomes with the utmost aesthetic consideration.
Her comprehensive training includes dedicated Oculoplastics training in Edinburgh, followed by two prestigious and internationally recognised Fellowships at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, and The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.
Dr Hughes is a conscientious practitioner who prioritises delivering expert care with a gentle bedside manner and a meticulous eye for detail. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and recipient of awards to further her Ophthalmology and Oculoplastics surgery. She is also a Full Member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society and the Scottish Oculoplastic Group.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Hughes has served as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for The University of Edinburgh and has represented Ophthalmology Training for The Royal College of Surgeons.
Outside of work, Dr Laura enjoys playing tennis, strength training and hiking with her dog. She balances her love of the outdoors with her joy of baking!
